In SandPlay you build a scene in a tray of sand using symbolic figures and natural materials: wood, stone, water, fabric. There is no right arrangement and no interpretation imposed on what you make.
What emerges is frequently a surprise to the person who made it. The hands select before the mind has decided, and a scene can hold contradictions — safety and threat, longing and refusal — that a sentence would have to flatten into one thing.
It works across the whole age range. Children take to it immediately. Adults who have talked about their history for years often find it reaches something that talking had been circling for a long time. Families can build together and see, laid out in front of them, how each member experiences the same household.
What a session involves
You build; I stay present without directing. Afterwards we look at what you made together — only as far as you want to go.
SandPlay is offered in person, where the tray and materials are available.
